Budgerigar
Whether keeping a single budgerigar, or a pair, an ample sized cage needs to be provided for freedom of movement and the cage should also contain at least two perches.

Canary
A single bird can be kept in a cage with a skirt around the base because they can make an awful mess as they flick seed about looking for the seed they want to eat.
Cockatiel
These are delightful little birds and can be real chatterboxes once they feel completely confident with their owners and surroundings.

Eastern Rosella
In the wild these birds nest in hollow limbs or trees high off the ground, but they have been known to nest in logs on the ground or even fence posts.
Galah
In the wild they separate into pairs that often become permanent matings that then return to the same nest year after year.

Gouldian Finch
Many bird lovers and bird watchers often refer to this as the most beautiful of all Australian finches. It’s also a very sociable bird.
King Parrot
Parrots are often referred to as “flying rainbows” because of their many vibrant colours and the king parrot certainly lives up to this tag.

Major Mitchell Cockatoo
To keep these birds as pets, because they are a large bird, they need to be kept in a big cage or a roomy aviary that also needs to contain native plants growing that the birds can chew.
Peach-faced Lovebird
Though they look like the “darlings” of the bird set they do have a dark side and should never be housed with birds that are not of their kind because they will bite the feet off other birds.

Princess Parrot
Princess Parrots are gentle-natured birds and very pretty, but don’t let this fool you as they are very hardy animals too.
Rainbow Lorikeet
This cheeky bird has a violet-blue head with lighter blue feather shafts on the collar and yellow-green on the nape. The rest of the upper parts of the body including the tail are green.

Red-rumped Parrot
In the wild, these birds spend much of their day on the ground scratching and searching for grass seeds, certain varieties of edible leaves and the flowers of some thistles.
Sulphur-crested Cockatoo
Cockatoos are destructive birds and need to be housed in large, strong cages, or aviaries made with metal frames (2.5cm x 1.25cm netting recommended) to form a flight.

Sun Conure
Although some of these birds vary in colour they usually have yellow bodies with orange through the chest and very fiery colouring on the head.
Zebra Finch
These birds are both tough and curious and if anything new is placed in their cage, or aviary, they will soon be all over it like a 'rash'.
